How To Make Everything Taste Like Chicken

We are mostly vegetarian at home and sometimes we do miss the taste of chicken. Luckily, I discovered how to make everything taste like chicken! Even yourself! Okay, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, but with these spices, I promise you that vegetables can truly taste like chicken.

Thank nature for giving us so many spices to use in our meal! Here are a few spices you can use to make tofu, mushrooms, or any meat substitute taste like chicken:

Masala

Masala sounds like the Filipino word Malasa (tasty)! That’s definitely true. Masala comes from South Asia and if you sprinkle this bad boy in your tofu, it’s gonna give you magical golden-colored tofu with a hint of chicken.

Cumin Powder

Now, this is our top-secret spice for anything! We love cumin powder when frying tofu, eggplant, mushrooms, jackfruit, potatoes…everything! It tastes so much like chicken. Now, you can go to your grocery store and find it in the spice section.

Black Pepper + Onion powder + Garlic Powder

If you want to “marinate” your meat substitute, just add black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder in a breading mix/powder. This is what I call spicy mix. This kind of taste might remind you of roasted meat and will satisfy your craving for chicken—without eating real chicken!

Last Secret Tip!
If you’re frying, you can use a spoon of margarine or butter for a tastier chicken flavor. Try these out with eggplant, tofu, okara, or any meat substitute you want!
